Who they are

LAMDA are a world-leading higher education provider and the oldest drama school in the UK, having delivered graded qualifications for 130 years. Their accredited exams at Level 3 or above are recognised by Ofqual and sit within the UCAS Tariff system. Every year they deliver over 100,000 assessments to their student actors, stage managers, technicians, directors, and designers.

What they needed

LAMDA’s stakeholders place a lot of value on their unique qualifications and processes but their previous system was built on a legacy database which no longer met their needs. Our task was to build an improved award life cycle management system that delivered an intuitive and seamless experience. Going paperless was an important objective; helping to support the business’ environmental commitments. While reducing pressures on administrative staff and helping the company achieve its growth objectives were also primary goals.

The results

Following a detailed scoping phase, we mapped out LAMDA’s processes and built custom workflows to be integrated into the ExamTrack platform. This resulted in:

  • Improving efficiencies for assessors with a newly developed calendar application, task system, and marking calculator.
  • Streamlined usability and time-saving functionality with over 90% of stakeholders now engaging with the system.
  • A 75% saving of administrative time, affording LAMDA staff the availability to work on other projects or assist in other areas of the organisation.
  • An 80% fall in the time it takes to schedule an assessment, giving LAMDA the ability to increase the number of candidates taking assessments and hit their growth increase objective.
  • The capacity for new revenue thanks to a reduction in temporary staffing costs, postage and carriage expenses, processing cheques, and administration time.
  • Processing international student’s sessions quicker due to ExamTrack’s remote access.
  • Improved security with data backups and encryption, providing tighter adherence to compliance demands.
  • More accurate forecasting and increased customer retention due to the business insights gathered from ExamTrack’s reporting engine.
  • A quicker, smoother response time to users’ booking requests and general queries.
